• Accident: The Potsdam, St. Lawrence Herald, Friday, 29 Mar 1900, Potsdam, St. Lawrence, New York. ACCIDENT TO MISS PORTEUS.

The following clippings from the Cobleskill Times of March 8 and March 15 will be read with interest. Miss Edith Porteus, one of the most popular members of the Cobleskill High school faculty, slipped and fell on the ice in front of Mr. Albert France's while on her way to School Wednesday morning, injuring of her hips so seriously that it was with the utmost difficulty that she was conveyed back to her boarding place at Arthur Tingue's. She suffered so intensely that the physicians were unable to. make any examination until this morning, when they found the ligaments of her hip badly strained, and torn in some places. The injury is quite a serious me. Miss Porteus' many friends are sincerely sorry that the accident has befallen her. She is attended by Drs. Becker and Mereness.

Miss Edith Porteus, who injured her hip so severely by falling on the icy sidewalk last week Wednesday morning, is doing as well as could be expected although she suffers much pain from the effects of the accident: Her sister, Miss Carrie Porteus, arrived here from Potsdam Saturday night and will remain until she recovers.
