The Silhouette, which appeared in the gravure section of the Post Standard, September 20 of Lydia Dorr Beckwith, a native of Lyme,. Conn., wife of Rev. Roswell Beckwith, who died in Cazenovia in 1836; was most interesting. The name Lydia in the Foster family of Hardscrabble was derived from this source. Roswell Beckwith was in the Continental army and his father was killed at Bunker Hill [Sic - he died at White Plains, NY]. Lydia Dorr died in Cazenovia,, April 16, 1834. She was the great grandmother of Eunice Beckwith, who married Peter Peck of Warners. Their children were Lydia, Betsey, Harriet, Daniel and William Peck and the members of this family living are the Pecks in Hardscrabble, the Fosters, the Davis and Clarkes of Baldwinsville. The last Beckwith in Cazenovia is Nelly Beckwith Fox, widow of Admiral Charles Fox.

Lydia married Roswell Beckwith, son of Unknown Beckwith and Unknown, on 13 Jan 1780 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. (Roswell Beckwith was born on 21 Oct 1753 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut, died on 4 Feb 1836 in Cazenovia, Madison, New York and was buried in 1836 in Cazenovia, Madison, New York.)
