Veteran of the Spanish-American War,commanded the torpedo boat Morris and was the navigating officer of the Olympia. Graduated from the Naval Academy in 1872,served with the Aslatic Fleet and with the Lighthouse Department.
After he retired he was in command of the Charleston Navy Yard.
