Born [say 1683]; removed to Newton; married Sarah ____________.

He, “now of Newton,” was baptized at Fairfield with the eldest three children, 30 May 1714.

Children, first two recorded Fairfield, all recorded Newtown:

Joseph, born 15 November 1706.

Sarah, born 10 September 1708.

Mary, born 7 March 1713.

Jonathan, born 21 March 1715, baptized at Fairfield, 7 August 1715.

Ann, born 14 February 1722/3.

• Will: From New Jersey, Abstract of Wills, 1670-1817, 21 Feb 1754, Hopewell, Hunterdon, New Jersey. 1754, Feb. 21. Gray, Joseph, of Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., yeoman; will of. Wife, Sarah. Children - Sarah, Mary and Ann Gray (now Rozzel), and Jonathan. Grandson, Stephen Rozzel, Real and personal estate, latter incl. negroes. Executors - the wife and son Jonathan. Witnesses - Sarah Hart, Margaret Hart, Thomas Craven. Proved March 14, 1754. [In a footnote to the will it is said, that Rozzel was now the name of all three daughters].

1754, Mar. 6. Inventory, £216.12.6, incl. a negro man, £40; a negro wench and child, £55; made by Jeremiah Woolsey and James Adames.


1755, June 23, Bond of Thomas Roszell (Rozell), of Philadelphia Co. Pa., as Adm'r; Peter Rosell, of Sussex Co., N. J., fellow bondsman, the Executors named in the will having both died.
