• Obituary: Internet posting (http://www.tributes.com/show/Claude-L-Greeney-11803630). Claude Lewis Greeney, known to his family and friends as Lewis, was born on September 5, 1931, in Rome, New York, to Harrison Martin Greeney and Teresa Soriano Greeney.

He enlisted in the United States Army at a young age, and served with the Special Forces in Berlin, Frankfurt, Mannheim, and Heidelberg, Germany, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, one peacetime tour of Korea, and two combat tours of Viet Nam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He was medically retired after twenty-two years of service, and settled in Oswego, New York, where he invested in real estate and rental properties.

He died of heart failure on April 5, 1986, while vacationing in Acapulco Mexico, where he spent his winters in his later years.

He was survived by his wife, Edith Filla Greeney, his daughter, Sylvia Greeney Morris, his son, Harrison Martin Greeney II, his siblings John Greeney, Cynthia Becker, Mary Bonney, Esther Decker, Faith Hort, Carol Wakeman, Keith Greeney, Robert Greeney, Ronald Greeney, James Reed Jr, and Linda Losurdo, his grandchildren , Christopher Greeney, Benjamin Greeney, and Angela Demling, his sister-in-law Karin Filla Slaughter, his best friend, brother-in-law, and fellow soldier, Charles K. Slaughter, and countless friends he had touched with his generosity and his caring spirit over the years.
