Mrs. Griffith M. Lewis, 90, of 136 Boght Road, Watervliet, died last night at Coboes Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
The former Adelaide Bartrand, she was born in Watervliet and was a lifelong resident of that city. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Watervliet, and a member of its Rosary Society.
She is survived by three sons, Edmund T. Lewis of Green Island, Griffith B. Lewis of Watervliet and LeRoy L. Lewis of Coboes; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Hodgson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Boyd Connelly of Troy and Mrs. Axel Ekstrom j of Greenvale, Long Island; 21 grandchildren, and 37 greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church, Watervliet, where a Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet

Memories of 58 years ago, when Watervliet was known as West Troy, were recalled last night by Mr. ami Mrs. Griffith M. Lewis of Boght Road, Watervliet.
The occasion was the celebration of the couple's 58th wedding anniversary at the homo of daughter, Mrs. Boyd W. Connally of 559 3rd Ave., with five children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren on hand for the observance.
It was on April 15, 1896, that Mr. and Mra. Lewis were married in Sacred Heart of Mary Church, West Troy. The officiating clergyman was Father Burrick.
The couple have lived in Watervliet all of their married life. Mr. Lewis was employed as a machinist with the old Wilcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co. for 35 years.
The dinner last night was highlighted by the many gifts received by the couple with congratulatory messages from members of the family unable to attend. Most prized gift was a radio combination set. Mrs. Lewis was presented a bouquet of flowers on the honor occasion.
On hand for the event were the couple's two daughters, Mrs. Adelaide Atkinson of Schenectady and Mrs. Connally; and three sons, Griffith B. Lewis of Boght Road, LeRoy Lewis of Cohoes and Edward Lewis of Green Island.
Three other daughters unable to attend are Mrs. Dorothy Hodgson of California, Mrs. Edith Couture of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Leona Ekstron of Roslyn, L.I. The couple has 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis lead an active life. Mr. Lewis, who is 79, is employed as a machinist at the Barlow Manufacturing firm at Amsterdam, and continues to work each day. His wife is active about the house and does much sewing.
