Bio: Glenn was the 5th child born to Austin Ormond Beckwith and his wife Jeannette Pauline (nee Jones) Beckwith. Glenn had two sisters, Ruth and Lula Verne. Ruth died at two years of age. "Verne" lived until 1961. Glenn had three brothers. They were Clarence, who lived until 1955. Francis, who died in 1945, and Benjamin Merl who lived until 1976. Glenn was raised on a farm in Bangor Michigan, where he learned to drive a truck and a car. Many men didn't know how to drive when WWI began, so he was assigned to drive many different vehicles, trucks, cars, motorcycles, etc. He served from 1916 - 1919 as a courier, a dispatch rider, and a Colonel's chauffeur. He spent the entire War years at Camp Custer later renamed Ft. Custer.

Glenn and his wife Hazel (nee Bicknell) married Dec. 27, 1922. They lived in Pawhuska, Oklahoma during the 1920's. Hazel was a school teacher. Glenn was in the gas station business with oil delivery truck, etc. The Great Depression hit in 1929 and Glenn lost his business, home, auto, etc. The family moved back to Hartford Michigan in 1932. There were no jobs available, so Glenn picked cherries the first year, then worked on the WPA for a year. He went to work as a clerk at Olds Grocery, then was hired by the IGA Gleaner Store and became manager of that grocery store. He continued in that work until WWII began then he went into war production work at Kalamazoo and St. Joseph, Mich.

Glenn and Hazel were the parents of six children. Their marriage ended in divorce. Glenn married a second wife, Lorene "Rene" Kraven on June 30, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. No children were born to this union. Glenn and Rene lived out their years in Michigan. Sadly, Glenn developed heart and respiratory problems and passed away the 5th of April, 1978 in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
