• Obituary: The Marietta Times, 9 Mar 2011, Marietta, Summit, Ohio. HUDSON, Ohio - C. Donald Stricker, 85, died peacefully in his home on Monday (March 7, 2011).
Beloved husband of Nancy (Wild) for 62 years. Loving father of C. Donald Jr. (Diane), of Kirtland, Thomas W. (Beth), of Marietta and Susan Waldorff (Charles A.), of Chagrin Falls. Devoted grandfather of Jessica, Erin, Ryan and Monica Stricker, Megan and Jillian Waldorff.
Brother of Edward G. (deceased), Madeline Baskin (deceased), John A (deceased) and Mrs. Marjorie Reim.
Don graduated from Shaker Heights High School and received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Case Institute. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II. His 35-year career was with U.S. Steel, where he was awarded many patents.
Mr. Stricker was a man who enjoyed life. He was active in tennis, where he won many tournaments. He was an avid bridge player. He enjoyed Cleveland sports, bowling, golf and gardening. He was a former member of Hudson Rotary Club, a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Church and a tutor at the Youth Development Center. Most of all he was a man who loved his family.
A memorial service/Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday (March 10, 2011) at St. Mary's Church at 340 North Main St., Hudson, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, Ohio, 44119.
