Emily Jane was the daughter of Peter Teel & Sarah Brooks Teel.
Her first husband was Matthew Jones who died about 1850 in Arkansas.
She then married Joel S. Clark about 1851.

"In 1850, Peter and Sarah Teel, and sons-in-law, Matthew Jones and John House, were making a return trip to IL, when Matthew Jones died and was buried somewhere in Arkansas. When the group return to Texas they were accompanied by Joel S. Clark (The Friends of the Courthouse pg.30)". He received a land grant of 60 adjoining Emily and Matthew Jones tract on the north.(same) (Emily and Joel S. married about 1850). He died at age of 80 (same source).

HAD MANY DESCENDANTS
The funeral of Mrs. Emily Clark, who died Wednesday night at Little Elm, was held Thursday afternoon at the Little Elm at Little Elm cemetery, attended by a big crowd of friends and relatives from Denton and other counties. A number of friends and relatives from Denton went out for the funeral, returning Thursday night.
Mrs. Clark was the surviving head of an unusually large family, including 6 surviving children, a number of grandchildren, 43 or 44 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, her living descendants numbering probably 75. The surviving children are Richard and Peter Clark of Little Elm, Mrs. J. M. Stover of Denton, Mrs. Gibson of West Texas, Mrs. Butler of Palo Pinto county and Mrs. J. T. Seagraves of Little Elm. The 5 great great grandchildren are in 3 families, 2 in the family of Mr. Parker, 2 in the family of Wm. Nelson, and one in the family of High Malone.
Mrs. Clark was a fine old type of the pioneer woman and her death expected though it was, caused a widespread and general grief in the eastern part of the county where she had lived for so many years."
