POESTENKILL
Timothy Patrick Fitzmaurice, age 63, left this earth's shore to cross to a new and welcoming home on June 10, 2008 at his home following a lengthy and heroic engagement with cancer with his devoted wife Jane by his side. Tim is best remembered for his wit and wisdom and for his sense of loving service and devotion as witnessed by decades of dedication to LaSalle Institute in Troy and his directorship of liturgical music at Saint Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Averill Park, the parish of his youth, St. Jude the Apostle in Wynantskill, Corpus Christi in Ushers, as well as several other churches within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. Tim was the first lay administrator at LaSalle. He was very proud of his association with LaSalle, yet remained very humble about his part in helping LaSalle in twice achieving its status as a National School of Excellence and Middle States accreditation. Last year, he was recognized by the LaSalle community as Distinguished LaSallian Educator of the Year and this year was honored with the Brother James Romond, FSC Award for Outstanding Service in the manner of Tim's mentor and close friend, Brother James. Tim was born in Albany on February 17, 1945, to the late John J. and Mary E. Galvin Fitzmaurice. He was a 1963 graduate of the former Vincentian Institute in Albany before receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the University of Ottawa and a master's degree in educational administration from the State University of New York in Albany. Tim is the cherished soul mate, friend, and husband of Jane A. Wilson Fitzmaurice. He is the devoted father of his children, Elizabeth Jane Perrins of Burnt Hills, Erin Margaret Fitzmaurice (Tracy J. Uebelacker) of Clifton Park, Timothy John Fitzmaurice of Dover, N.H. and very special "son," Braden Robert Russom of Mechanicville. He is the treasured Papa of his grandchildren, Stephan Conor and Olivia Jane Perrins, both of Burnt Hills. He is also survived by his sister, Constance M. Fitzmaurice (Bettye Southwick) of Kinderhook; brother-in-law, John J. Wilson, FSC of Syracuse; cousins, G. Richard and Maryrose Lewis of Latham, Ronald (Barbara) Lewis of Calif., Gary (Patricia) Lewis of Pa., and Peter (Glenda) Lewis of Scotia; niece, Melissa Jane Pezzula and nephews, Michael John and Matthew Jonathan Pezzula, all of Niskayuna. In addition to his parents, Tim was predeceased by his brother, John J. "Jack" Fitzmaurice, and his sister-in-law, Mary Beth Wilson Pezzula. He remains treasured by an intricate network of souls, minds, and special friends at St. Henry's and LaSalle, whom he touched over a lifetime of music, education, and faith. Tim's family would like to express their thanks to Sharon and Howard Sandwick and Linda and Bill Banker for sharing in Tim's journey. A special thanks to G. Richard and Maryrose Lewis for their unwavering love and support through this and all other life experiences. Thank you to all of the nurses, social workers, and other workers of Community Hospice who helped in Tim's transition, particularly Tim Raymond, Ida, and Bree. All are welcome to pay their respects at LaSalle Institute, Williams Rd., Troy on Thursday, June 12 beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial and Mass of Resurrection will also be celebrated at LaSalle Institute Friday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Tim's memory to LaSalle Institute, Troy or St. Henry's, Averill Park.
