Henry and John, the founders of this family, were brothers of William Grey, citizen and merchant tailor of London, whose will, 1 Sept. 1657, proved 18 Nov. 1663, mentioned them, referring to John as in New England. He also mentioned real estate in Hamerton in the parish of Hackney, and water mills and real estate in Barking, East Ham, and West Ham, co. Essex. The family was armigerous*.
