• Obituary: Shoemaker Funeral Home, 18 May 2004, Black Lick, Indiana, Pennsylvania. William A. Hullenbaugh, 69, of Black Lick, PA died on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at his home. A son of Kenneth J. and Grace L. Munshower Hullenbaugh, he was born June 30, 1934 in Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA. Mr. Hullenbaugh attended the Black Lick United Methodist Church. He was a member of Blairsville VFW Post #5821, UMWA and the Burrell Twp. Rod & Gun Club. He graduated from Derry High School in 1952 and retired as a sergeant 1st class from the US Army with 21 years of service. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, National Defense Service Medal, AOM Germany, Vietnam Service Medal w/5 bronze service stars, and Good Conduct Medal. He also retired from Helen Mining in 1994.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Mitsuko Ikehara Hullenbaugh whom he married July 10, 1962 in Naha, Okinawa, Japan; four sons, Kenneth A. Hullenbaugh and his wife, Kathleen of Blairsville, PA; Robert R. Hullenbaugh of State College, PA; George M. Hullenbaugh and his wife, Jamie of Pensacola, Florida and Daniel M. Hullenbaugh of Black Lick, PA and a daughter, Karen J. Hullenbaugh of Sterling, VA; nine grandchildren, Kenneth A. Hullenbaugh; Danelle L. Hullenbaugh; Katie O. Hullenbaugh; George M. Hullenbaugh; Lisa M. Hullenbaugh; Samuel R. Hullenbaugh; Alaura D. Hullenbaugh; Nathaniel J. Hullenbaugh and Gretchen L. Hullenbaugh; four sisters, Alice Henry and her husband, Thomas of Homer City, PA; Dorothy Rush and her husband, Bill of Marietta, OH; Nancy Smith and her husband, John of Blairsville, PA and Patty Kikel and her husband, Tiny of Latrobe, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Hullenbaugh and a sister, Betty Tedford. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Jason L. McQueen officiating.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery. Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
