Joseph Beckwith - Son of Matthew - b. 1653 Lyme and d. early part of 1707 m. abt. 1676 Susannah Tallman dau. of Peter Tallman, Portsmouth, R.I., b. abt. 1662 bapt. 9 July 1682. • Family: From The Ancestry of Emily Jane Engle, Dean Crawford Smith, 1992, page 228. JOSEPH, born circa 1653 (age 4 on 15 February 1657[/8] [Winthrop Medical Journal 1:379]); died Lyme, CT after 20 December 1707 (Lyme Deed 2:355); married say 1675 SUSANNA TALLMAN, baptized an adult 9 say 1682 (TAG 22[1945]:51), died after 1711, daughter of Peter Tallman of Newport, RI. Joseph was an innkeeper. Susanna brought her child into court 23 October 1672 and said that Roger Goulding was the father (Newport Ct Bk A:9). Susanna married second 1711 George Way of Lyme (see Way Chapter). • Family: From Beckwith Note 6, by Albert C. & Edward S. Beckwith, 1907, Page 2. JOSEPH had wife SUSANNAH. He died about 1708, and his widow was married about 1715 to (Capt. Joseph?) Way. Joseph married Susanna Tallman, daughter of Peter Tallman and Unknown.
