2902 iv. ELIZABETH WELLS, b. 20 Jan 1757; bapt. 23 Jan 1757 (Cromwell First Congregational Church Records, slip index citing 1:51); m. 30 Sep 1779 (Cromwell First Congregational Church Records, slip index citing 1:111) EPAPHRAS SAGE, who d. 28 May 1834 in Middletown (his widow’s pension statement). He served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting for two months ir11776; four months in 1777; two months in 1779; for one or two weeks in 1780; and for two weeks in 1781. Epaphras applied for a pension at age 75 on 14 Aug 1832 in l\/liddletown and gave details of his service. His widow applied for her pension at age “8Oyears lastjan” on 17 Nov 1837, providing dates for their marriage and his death. The minister of the 2'“ Congregational Church of Middletown provided the marriage record, stating that the Rev. Gershom Bulkeley was then the minister (Revolutionary War pension file \X/26430).
Note: This record indicates her surname was Ranney, not Wells.
Elizabeth married Epaphras Sage. (Epaphras Sage was born in 1757 and died on 28 May 1834 in Middletown, Connecticut.)
