Died Sept. 05, 1884 - 6am, aged 78 [5 Sep is the date given on the official death record, with 2 Oct being given as the date the report was made. His death date on his tombstone was 4 Oct, which was perhaps a later confused reading of the death record by whoever ordered the stone.]

By 1830, Granville had joined his two sisters, Patsy, wife of James Rutherford, and Rachel, wife of James's brother Granville Rutherford, in St. Louis Co., MO. He is listed on the 1830 census with his new bride Lucinda Sappington. They don't have any children yet.

Granville and James Rutherford were listed next door to each other in St. Ferdinand Township on pg 298 in 1830.
Granville's brother-in-law James Rutherford died in 1833 and when Granville's sister Patsy remarried in 1837, Granville took over administration of the Rutherford estate and became guardian of Patsy's children to protect their financial interests.

21 Feb 1853 – G.O. Eades [husband of Lucinda, d/o Hartley's brother Thomas] as guardian received Thomas P. Sappington's full share of Hartley Sappington's personal property and other property. [Thomas was a minor at school.]
1860 – estate of Thomas Sappington "I give to my daughter Lucinda Eades the sum of twenty dollars in addition to what I have already given her" and the rest to his four children of second marriage.
4 Jun 1860 – Granville O. Eades was a purchaser at Thomas Sappington's estate sale.

In 1880, Granville and Lucinda were listed on the same page of the 1880 census with their daughter Lucinda Smith, who along with at least a couple of generations of her family would be buried in her parents' cemetery plot.

2. Martha Ellen Eades, b. 16 Jun 1832; d. 1 Jul 1851. Never married. Her tombstone stands in front of parents' at Forever Oak Hill cemetery in St. Louis.
3. Mary Ann Kinkead Eades, b. 1836; m. 1855 to Christopher Hawken (eldest son of Jacob Hawken, a St. Louis gunsmith who, with his brother, manufactured the famous Hawken rifle). Their home, built in 1857, still exists and has been moved to Rock Hill Road, St. Louis. She died 1878.
4. L. Gertrude Eades, m. Hunt Owens.
5. Lucinda S. Eades, b. 1847; m. Milton Smith (b. 1833 MO; son of Steven Smith b. 18 Feb 1798 and Katharine Parke, b. 10 Oct 1806.) Milton's maternal grandmother was Margaret Sappington, sister of Lucinda's maternal grandfather Thomas Sappington, so they were second cousins.
