The letter summarizes Jonathan Beckwith's service and family as follows:

The letter states Jonathan Beckwith was 60 at the time of his application. He died August 25, 1837. He was married April 1792 to Mrs. Esther Daniels, widow of John Daniels and daughter of Lowen Wait and Zerhiah Caulkins who were married November 3, 1761. Esther Wait was born May 22, 1766 and died March 25, 1840.

The letter states the Joseph and Esther had six children, but only five were identified as follows:

Hepsibah, age 25 in 1820, died before 1840.
Ann, age 24 in 1820, died before 1840.
