John Fulkerson was born February 17 in the year of 1759. Catherine Slaght on March 17, 1761. John Fulkerson and Catherine Slaght married April 1781. My daughter Anny was born January 9, 1782. My son Jeremiah was born August 1783. My daughter Catherine was born September 1786. My daughter Mary was born April 6, 1788. My daughter Elizabeth was born February 1791, deceased September 28, aged one year, seven months, and thirteen days.

My son John was born May 10, 1793. Phillip deceased August 13, 1804 aged 8 y and 6 m. My son Phillip was born February 2, 1796. My daughter Sarah was born July 11, 1798. (My son William was born) May 17, 1801. Robert was born April 9, 1806.

Pvt John Fulkerson

Revolutionary War & War of 1812

John served from Morris Co., with the N.J. Militia. Served two months each in 1776, 1777, 1778; six months in 1777; three months in 1780 for a total of 15 months. In 1776, at Springfield, N. J., the Americans had a skirmish with a scouting party of the British and John was wounded in the head. Source Pension papers.

Bp April 19, 1761 in (New) Brunswick, Middlesex Co., N.J. Dutch Reformed Church.

He lived in Somerset Co. N.J. through 1769, then at Roxbury in Morris Co., N.J. where he m. Catherine Slaught April 13, 1781 [Vol. XXII NJSA p143)

John Fulkerson and Jacob Morril (Merrill), both of the County of Morris...[bound to]... William Livingston, Governor ... 500 pounds... 13 April 1781...certificate of marriage between John Folkerson and Catharine Slaught... [w] Mal'm McCouny].

They settled in Northumberland Co., PA in 1785 and had nine children. John and his father Johannis Northumberland Co. tax list 1786, listed as John and John, Jr. John,Jr. owned no land, had two horses, two cows and paid $1.30 in taxes.

He was listed as a member of the Warrior Run Presbyterian Church when it was founded in 1789. Church records 1797 listed John and a Pruner Fulkerson. Later in life he lived with his son Jeremiah.
