Noted events in his life were: • Obituary: Oswego Daily Palladium, Saturday, 18 Nov 1871, Oswego Town, Oswego, New York. DEATH OP DARIUS S. COUL-Under the proper heading to day will be found the announcement of the death of Darius S. Cole, of Fair Haven. Mr. Cole was well known in Oswego, where he had business and intimate social relations with many of our people. His death occurred at his residence in Fair Haven, Cayuga county, yesterday, in the 74th year of his age. His was an active, useful and honorable life. He came into this part of the country half a century since with his axe upon his shoulder, and commenced life in the wilderness. Of indomitable courage, great energy, rigid integrity and untiring industry, his influence and example were felt in his locality. He was a brother of Lewis A. Cole, of Oswego Town, and father of Mrs. Oscar E. Shepard, of this city. He had been in failing health for the past year, and his death was caused by a third stroke of apoplexy. Darius married. |
