• Biography: From Jonathan Waterbury Genealogy. (4) JOHN WATERBURY, eldest son of John (1) and Rose (Lockwood) Waterbury was born in Stamford, Conn., 1650. He served in King Phillips War and in recognition of that act the Stamford town meeting of September 22, 1676, enacted as follows: "The town agrees that all those soldiers that went out upon service out of Stamford against the common enemy should have land of the town, namely all that did service."
In carrying this resolution into effect the town then voted land to John Waterbury and various others named.
John died November 28, 1688, leaving a will proved December 11, 1688. in which he names his wife, Mary, and their children. He makes his brothers, Jonathan and David, "over-seers" of his children until the latter should come of age. The will was witnessed by Jonathan Bell and Joseph Bishop. The will makes bequest "of my now dwelling house and orchard" to his wife for her Use while she remains a widow after which these Were to return to his sons, John, David and Thomas, and to his daughter, Mary.
The last name of Mary, the wife of this John, is not known.

(10) IV Thomas, b. 12 May, 1687.
