• Obituary: The Record, 28 Jun 2015, Troy, Rensselaer, New York. Maryrose E. McCauley Lewis LATHAM – Maryrose E. McCauley Lewis, 78, beloved wife of G. Richard Lewis for 56 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the comfort of her own home on Friday, June 26, 2015. Maryrose was born in Troy, NY on October 28, 1936 and was the daughter of the late James J. and Dorothy Lansing McCauley. She received her primary education at School 18 in Troy and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy where, as a student, she was active in school publications and dramatics society presentations. Maryrose was a graduate of Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY where she received a B.S. in Business Education. While at Good Counsel College she served as vice president of the business society, reporter for the Campus Newspaper and was a glee club vocalist and performed at the Plaza Ballroom in New York City. Maryrose had served as assistant director of the Albany Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau; Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Breton Industries, Inc. of Amsterdam, NY and Vice President of Hyperbaric Technologies, Inc., a global supplier of fabric hyperbaric chambers for medical and environmental application. Maryrose served as a local leader and director of activities for the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council; was coordinator of residential meetings and publicity for the Riviera Estates Homeowners Association of Latham, NY; enjoyed involvement and was a care-giver at St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Latham; was a member of the Columbiettes and was instrumental in the building program for the Latham Council of the Knights of Columbus on New Karner Road; was a benefactor and, along with her husband, endowed a major scholarship at the LaSalle Institute in Troy and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and service volunteer. Maryrose was pre-deceased by her son, G. Eric Lewis who passed away on November 21, 2014 and whose wife, Tracey Brooks survives. In addition to her beloved husband, she is also survived by her loving daughters, Kristen (Randy) Kennedy of Atlanta, GA and Karen (Edward) Schuler of Rochester, NY; her eight cherished grandchildren, Griffith Christopher Lewis, Megan Lewis, Peter Lewis, Michael Lewis, Katherine “KK” Lewis (and their mother, Amy Kiernan), Savannah Grice, Nicholas Schuler and Andrew Schuler, as well as several nieces and nephews. Maryrose shared a special friendship with Jane Fitzmaurice. The Lewis family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and staff of St. Peter’s Cancer Center and the Community Hospice for the dedicated care given to Maryrose and for the support given to our family during her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10 o’clock in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Niskayuna. Friends are invited and may also visit with Maryrose’s family on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 3 until 7 PM at the Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road in Latham. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests that donations, in memory of Maryrose, be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
