Poughkeepsie - Joseph P. Calio, age 77, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at home in Poughkeepsie. Joe was born May 19, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Pasquale and the late C. Jessie (Vincitore) Calio. He married Gene I. Watson on June 28, 1968 in Poughkeepsie, New York, Gene survives at home

He was a retired employee of IBM Poughkeepsie where he was a Manager.

Joe was a local resident all his life and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Church. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from November 1955 to August 1957. Joe was a life member of the Italian Center, Shamrock Club and a life member and past trustee of the Pirate Canoe Club.

He is survived by his wife: Gene I. (Watson) Calio; daughter and son In-law, Karen and Richard Versace; sister Celeste Calio; grandchildren, Shannon Versace Decker and her husband Keith, Ayriel Versace Krochmeal and her husband Jason, Kyle Versace and his wife Terri, Jarrell Versace and his wife Sarah; great grandchildren, Matthew Dale Decker, Alivia Nichole Decker, Alyssa Lynn Versace, Bre-Ann Gene Versace, Brian Patrick Lee, Isabella Rose Lee, Siearah Rose Versace, Erick Lee Versace, Justin Jarrell Versace; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Joe was also predeceased by his Son, Dale Calio in 2004.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 30 2013 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY with Military Honors.
