• Family: From The Ancestry of Emily Jane Engle, Dean Crawford Smith, 1992, page 229. NATHANIEL, born say 1656; died between 25 December 1725 and 10 January 1725/6 (date of writing and proving of will, NL Probate C:110-112); married before 1679 MARTHA Children (all but #1 named in father's will), perhaps some with an unseen first wife, surname Beckwith:

In his will, made Dec. 25, 1725, he named his wife, seven children, and a part of his grandchildren; will filed at New London, Jan'y 10, 1725-6. (Book C, pp. 110 - 112.)

Identifies his son John and gives him land in Moodus or East Haddam as well as two acres of bog meadow lying near cousin Joseph Beckwith.

Identifies his son Joseph and gives him a house and land in Lyme.

Identifies his daughter, Mary Miller, deceased, and her five children, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Noah, and John.

Identifies his daughter Elizabeth Moore as deceased.

Identifies his daughter Susanna Wood and her husband William.

Identifies his daughter Martha as deceased. Also indicates she had children as he references her heirs.
