Noted events in his life were: • Family History: 1745 - 1880 History of Indiana County Pennsylvania by J. A. Caldwell, 1880, Page 517. Dr. Thos. St. Clair, a son of our subject, was educated at the Indiana Academy. In 1843, at the age of nineteen, he commenced to read medicine with Dr. John W. Jenks, of Punxsutawney. After a year's study, he removed to Indiana, where he entered the office of Dr. James M. Stewart, with whom he remained three years as a student and two as a partner. He graduated in 1847, from the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, and after a career of thirty-two years as an active practitioner, is still a working member of the profession. He was connected with the “Surgeon General's volunteer surgical corps" during the war and attended the wounded after the “Seven Days” and the “Gettysburg.” battles. He served in the state senate two terms, one in 1864, and the second in 1877-'78 and 1878-'79. His children were: John P., m. to Martha Daugherty; James H., Charles M., M.
