Lydia Gilbert (Capt. Samuel (3), Jonathan (2), Thomas) b. 4 Sept. 1707 d. 14 Mar. 1794 age 87 (g.s.) Both buried in the old Baptist Cemetery Yard at McIntyre, Stanford, Dutchess Co., N. Y.

1 - Elisha b. 12 Oct. 1738 ”He and his wife were perniciously active loyalists. He went to Halifax 1791 without family and died there.” (A. C. Beckwith Notes)

2 - Sylvanus b. 22 May 1742 m. Amy Southerland (Sutherland)

3 - Ann b . 30 May 1743 m. F. Brown, a R. W. Soldier

4 - Nathan b. abt. 1747 d. 1832 age 85 at Waterford, Conn. He was a R. W. soldier in Col. Thomas Knowlton (Knowlton’s Rangers) Reg. 20 Continentals. Known as Nathan the Reckless, one of Knowlton’s holy terrors to the Tories. (A. C. Beckwith 27 May 1914) Nathan and his son Nathan, jr. both served in the War of 1812.

5 - Matthew b. abt. 1740 possibly a son of Hezekiah and lived in Beekman Precinct, N. Y. when he took the Associator’s Oath in 1775. He m. (2) Abigail Barmore 29 Dec. 1776 at the Bengali Baptist Church, Stanford, N. Y. (c.r.)

Note: In the Census of 1790 he [Hezekiah] was listed in Canaan Town, Colombia Co., N. Y., with one son over 16, two under 16 and one daughter. I believe both he and Sylvanus may have left Lyme, Conn., together but settled some distance from each other. Both were Baptists and when he married the second time it was at the Bengali Baptist Church of which Sylvanus was also a member.
