Captain Samuel Welles
Noted events in his life were: • Family History: From The Descendants of Governor Thomas Welles of Connecticut And his Wife Alice Tomes, Volume 1, Third Edition, Page 225. 7. CAPT. SAMUEL WELLES (Gov. Thomas), born c. 1628 in Burmington, Warwickshire, England; and died 15 July 1675, drowning while crossing the Connecticut River (Stiles Wethersfield 2:775). He married first c. 1659 in Wethersfield, Connecticut ELIZABETH HOLLISTER, daughter of Lt. John Hollister and Joanna Treat, born c. 1640 in Wethersfield, Connecticut; and died c. 1670 in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He married second HANNAH LAMBERTON of New Haven, Connecticut, daughter of Capt. George Lamberton and Margaret Lewen, baptized 28 November 1633, at the age of 9 days, at St. Dunstan's, Stepney, Middlesex County, England (TAG 80:194); and died after 1699. She married second Col. John Allyn, Secretary of the Colony. Samuel married Elizabeth Hollister circa 1659 in Hartford, Connecticut. Samuel next married Hannah Lamberton. |
