THOMAS WELLES, born c. 1590 probably in Tidmington, Warwickshire, England, “and died 14 January 1659/60 in Wethersfield, Connecticut Wethersfield Deeds 1:39), “very suddainly, being very well at supper and dead before midnight” (Winthrop Letters 58).37He married first 28 September 1615 at St. Peter's, Drayton near Banbury, Oxfordshire, England (Oxfordshire Parish Registers, Drayton St. Peter's, Banbury Registration District, arranged chronologically, image furnished by Oxfordshire Record Office), ALICE TOMES, daughter of John Tomes and Ellen (Gunne) Phelps, born circa 1592, probably in Long Marston, and died before her husband's second marriage in 1646, probably in Hartford, Connecticut. He married second before 16 May 1646, when he quitclaimed his interest in the estate of Nathaniel Foote (Wethersfield Deeds 1:159), ELIZABETH (DEMING) FOOTE, widow of Nathaniel Foote and the sister of John Deming,” born circa 1595 and died before 3 September 1683 when the inventory of her estate was taken. Thomas married Alice Tomes, daughter of John Tomes and Ellen Gunne, on 28 Sep 1615 in St. Peter's, Drayton near Banbury, Oxfordshire, England.
