Jabez Gray of Fairfield (1728-1760) died in Maryland of smallpox leaving an estate of £64 in personnel property. What distinguished (aside from 2 shillings' worth of snuff) is this entry: “1/4 sloop and 1/4 long boat as she came in from the voyage in which Gray died £22.10.” Jabez married Betty Jacocks, daughter of Joshua Jacocks and Deborah.
