Pretty Home Ceremony Solemnized Last Evening by Rev. Dr. Hayes

SOLO WAS A FEATURE

The marriage of Miss Sarah Jean Lomison to Edward Townsend Gray was solemnized at 6:30 o'clock last evening, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Miriam Lomison, No. 213 Lincoln street, in the presence of some sixty friends of the contracting pair. Just before the hour set for the marriage Attorney W. David Lloyd, of Market street, sang Tim Suter's "Bedouin Love Song," with Mrs. Hubert R. Jaques, of the South Side, as accompanist.

The wedding march from "Lohengrin" was played by Mrs. Jaques, and the Rev. Dr. C. Hayes, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, performed the ceremony. The bride wore white chiffon trimmed with real lace and carried an immense bouquet of yellow roses. Mrs. Charles Longenecker of Beaver, the matron of honor, wore a gown of pale blue crepe de chine and carried yellow chrysanthemums. Miss Anna Jean Swank was the flower maid, and Misses Margaret Walters and Mildred Lomison Coleman were ribbon girls. Miss Swank wore a dress of yellow radium and carried daisies, while the flower girls were attired in white embroidered Swiss, with pale blue ribbons. Fred Winslow Chaflin [Claflin], of Boston, Mass., was best man.

Among the guest present from out of the city were Miss Thyrma [Thyrza] Gray of Oswego, N.Y., a sister of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. James I. Nix, of Homer; Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Thompson of Indiana; and Mrs. Charles Longenecker of Beaver.

The Crystal Cafe did the catering at the wedding supper which followed the ceremony. The bride and groom will leave this evening for Oswego, N.Y. to spend their honeymoon. Mr. Gray is a graduate of Cornell University, and is at present employed as a civil engineer at the Franklin Plant of the Cambria Steel Company. Upon their return from the Empire State, the couple will make their home on Vine street, First Ward.

• Church: Westmont United Presbyterian Church, 1894, Johnstown, Cambria, Pennsylvania. In October, 1894, the first Sunday School in Westmont was organized under sponsorship of the First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown where Rev. Calvin C. Hays was Pastor. It was located in a vacant room above Kramer's Store on the comer of Tioga Street and Second Avenue.

In 1902, the Trustees of the First Presbyterian Church adopted a resolution to build a chapel in Westmont. A building committee was appointed, with its members being Frank M. Buchanan, Daniel M. Stackhouse, and Mary Jane Cooper. About three thousand dollars was subscribed, not including the donation of pulpit fumiture, an organ, chandeliers, etc. A chapel was built on Mifflin Street on a lot donated by the Cambria Iron Company during the summer of l9O2 and dedicated on November 30, 1902. "free of debt."

It remained a dream of Rev. Dr. Calvin C. Hays, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church to establish in Wesfinont a Presbyt€rian Church which would succeed the chapel. ln 1924, a building commifiee was appointed. This committee selected a modem Gothic style of architecture for the stone edifice. The lots on Mifflin Street were sold and lots on the comer of Luzeme Street and Fisk Avenue were purchased. The laying of the comerstone took place on May 9, 1926, and the church was dedicated on June 5, 1927. The first p:lstor of the Wesfinont Presbyterian Church was Rev. John Rhys Roberts. The cost for property, building, and furnishings, including the organ, w as $233,814.72.

Membership continued to grow, reaching 1,117 memben in 1976 and prompting the Church to conduct two services each Sunday. In addition, the Ctrurch currently sponsors the Weekday Nursery School, which has an accredited school program for approximately children three, four, and five years of age.
