James (Jeames) Beckwith
Noted events in his life were: • Family: From Beckwith Note 6, by Albert C. & Edward S. Beckwith, 1907, Page 3. JAMES, (Matthew), born at New London, June 1, 1671; lived at Lyme from 1677, at Norwich from 1732, at Southington from 1744, and died about 1756. He married Feb. 18, 1693 at Lyme, SARAH MARVIN , (Reynold, Edward, Reynold), who was born at Lyme in 1673. His father appointed "my well beloved son James Beckwith to be sole executor of this my last will and testament.'' • Family: From Vital Records of Lyme, Connecticut to the End of the Year 1850, p. 219. Feb 3 1697/8 Jeames Beckwith was married to Sarah his wife LLR2:133 • Family: From Marvin Beckwith and His Wife Abigail Clark, 1899, page 10. JAMES BECKWITH was born at New London, June 1, 1671 and baptized Sept. 10, following. From his 6th to his 61st year he lived at Lyme, where, Feb. 18, 1693, he married SARAH MARVIN, youngest daughter of Lieut. REINOLD MARVIN and wife SARAH CLARKE, and granddaughter of REINOLD MARVIN, early settler at Hartford (1635). In 1732 he and his son Samuel bought 200 acres of John Hazen, at Norwich, afterward divided between his sons Samuel and John. In 1744 he appeared at Farmington, and in 1746 gave his remaining rights at Norwich to Samuel. In 1752 he gave to James jr. and Reynold each half the farm on which he then lived, in south parish of Farmington. As this land and house was sold in 1756 to Dr. Henry Skelton, it is inferred that James died in that year; for James jr. is thereafter found at Bristol, and the next mention of Reynold is at Wallingford. Nothing is known as to death of SARAH, but her last child was born in 1717. • Family History: From The Beckwiths by Paul Beckwith, Page 77. James Beckwith, 540, born New London, June 1, 1671; removed to Lyme in 1692, and died there in 1719; he married Sarah Griswold, September 22, 1693; she was born at Lyme in 1673, and died there October 10, 1714. James married Sarah Marvin, daughter of Lieutenant Reinald Marvin and Sarah Clark, on 3 Feb 1698 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. (Sarah Marvin was born in 1673 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut.)
