MARVIN BECKWITH, son of REYNOLD and MARTHA, born at Norwich, Jan'y 10, 1736-7, baptized in March following; name found as witness to signing of deed from his grandfather to his uncle, James jr., at Southington in 1752; reasonably believed to have been a colonial soldier of nearly the whole of 1758; married ABIGAIL CLARK at Southington, Nov. 15, 1759; served in Capt. Samuel Wyllys's company of Col. Joseph Spencer's regiment from May 16 to Dec. 19, 1775; appointed ensign of fourth company, fifteenth regiment state troops, in Oct. 1778; date of death noted by one of his grandsons (GEORGE, son of HARVEY) as lying between July 10, 1810 and Dec. 22, 1813. (These were the birthdates of GEORGE and his sister LUC Y ANGELINA).
